Oil & Fat-based Remedies Workshop

Date:

Cost: £80.00

There is a natural progression from making herb-infused oils, followed by ointments and ultimately to formulating creams.  Formulating creams is extremely satisfying.  The process of combining oil and water with an emulsifier to create a silky-smooth fluffy emulsion is quite magical.  Once you know how to make a cream you can make a wide range of products not just for therapeutic purposes, but for body, hair and skin.

There are essentially two types of cream that you can make:

  • Oil in water
  • Water in oil

Each type of cream is quite distinctive and has different uses. Cream-making is extremely diverse because of the different types of oils, fats and emulsifiers and waters you can use. The oils themselves have different properties and rates of absorption, as does the water element you choose. You can use plain distilled water, an infusion, a decoction or a hydrosol.
