Tinctures
Tinctures are made with either fresh or dried plant material steeped in a mixture of alcohol (usually vodka) and water for several weeks. The mixture of alcohol and water extracts more constituents than using either alcohol or water alone. Tinctures have become the most common form of herbal medicine administered by practitioners to their clients. Different tinctures are often combined to make a formula to address more complex health issues.

Cordials
Cordials are sweetened alcoholic drinks, that are very palatable. They are less formal than tinctures and usually made and taken purely for pleasure, although they also make superb medicine. Cordials can be made by mixing herbs, alcohol, fruits and maple syrup together in a jar which is then left to steep for at least a month.
